Root Canals

Tooth decay, when left untreated, can progress to the innermost portion of the tooth called the pulp (or the ‘nerve’ of the tooth) and this will cause an abscess to at the root of the tooth. This will sometimes cause an unbearable pain. Root canal treatment is required to treat the tooth when the decay reaches this stage.

The process of Root canal entails accessing and removing all the infected pulp tissue, cleaning and shaping the canals inside the root and filling it with a permanent filler called gutta-percha. The tooth is then restored with a permanent filling and a crown.

When the tooth needs a root canal, patients sometimes feel unbearable pain, but getting a root canal treatment done at Hillcrest Dental Studio is not painful at all, contrary to popular belief.
